• Features: atrophic glossitis, post-cricoid webs (Plummer-Vinson syndrome), angular stomatitis
• Blood film: microcytic, hypochromic red cells with 'pencil' poikilocytes
• If combined with B12/folate deficiency, a 'dimorphic' film can occur with mixed microcytic and macrocytic cells
