Key points

• Antiplatelet used mainly WITH aspirin after ischaemic stroke or TIA.
• MOA: non-specific phosphodiesterase inhibitor → ↑platelet cAMP → ↓intracellular calcium.
• Also reduces cellular uptake of adenosine and inhibits thromboxane synthase.
